Siemens AG constructed a gas and steam cogeneration plant on the BASF site in Ludwigshafen. Two gas turbines produce electric power for the chemical plant via generators. The exhaust gas from the gas turbines is used to generate process steam in 2 waste heat boilers and also supply the chemical plant. Unused steam is utilised to produce electricity by means of a steam turbine.
