Project description:

Load balancing of refrigeration equipment of the short path distillation plant for identification of efficient operation mode aimed at: optimum operation of the refrigeration equipment

Realisation in two stages:

  • Load balancing and appropriate standardised design (already implemented)
  • Online calculation of the optimum operation mode and subsequent operator guidance (planned for the end of 2009-2010)

 

Consideration had to be given to the following:

  • 2 suction hose pressures (low-pressure 0.5 bar / -21°C, high-pressure 2.5 bar / -5°C)
  • 3 NH³ compressor (low-pressure) : 0.5 bar to 2.5 bar
  • 5 NH³ compressor (high-pressure)
  • 11 spray coolers upstream of the compressors

 

Technical highlights:

  • Preparation of a system specification with operations
  • Setting up an inteface for energy concumptions (compressor, cooling water pumps, ventilators / 6kV, 500V, 230V)
  • Realisation with Wonderware InTouch and Siemens S7-400 PLCs
  • Recording the mode of operation in an InSQL database
  • Calculation of specific consumptions and specific costs per machine and plant component (-21°C refrigeration/ -5°C refrigeration)
  • Calculation of efficiency factor and cop per machine, as well as  cop for NH/high pressure, -21°C / - 5°C, as well as the entire plant
